Reaching the city centre from the airport
By public transport: Take bus 200E to KÖKI Terminal- Kőbánya-Kispest Terminus of M3 underground, and then take the underground towards Deák Ferenc Square. Another possiblity the shuttle bus 100E between the airport and Deák Square (in the city centre), with a frequency of 30 minutes. The first daily bus departure from the city centre is at 4:00 in the morning to take passengers wishing to reach the first flights of the day, while the last bus departing from the airport is at 00:30 at night. A special ticket type is required for line 100E: the airport shuttle bus single ticket costs 900 Forints.

The transport system consists of 268 bus, 32 tram, 15 trolleybus and 4 underground lines. It also includes cogwheel and commuter trains, a funicular and boat services. Daytime services are available between 4.30 am and 11.30 pm, while at night you can get around with night buses or Tram No. 6, which runs round the clock.

While several companies run taxis in the capital, all licensed cabs are yellow. You have taken a licensed Budapest taxi if you can see the driver’s photo ID and the table of fares on the dashboard. All fare are licensed: the minimum fare is HUF 450, the standard fare is HUF 280 per kilometre and there is a waiting charge of HUF 70 per minute. Cash and bank cards are both accepted.
